The 5th trumpet of Revelation reveals locusts from the Bottomless pit. In the great tribulation period, there are 7 angels with 7 trumpets.
5th Trumpet of Revelation – Locusts from Bottomless Pit
Rev 9:1: And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fallen from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit
There are several definitions we have to understand in this verse
- Star fallen from heaven unto the earth
The star fallen from heaven unto the earth is not just an object but a person because in the next part of the sentence the star is personified as ‘him’ … him was given the key of the bottomless pit
The star is fallen. ‘Fallen’ is the past participle of ‘fall’. Therefore the star fell in the past.
Who is the fallen star?
Isaiah 14:12: How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn
Lk 10:18 So He said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven’
The fallen star is Satan
- Bottomless Pit
Bottomless pit is also called ‘Abyss’
Bottomless pit is where Satan will be bound for a thousand years
Rev 20:1-3: And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Those in bottomless pit are chained as Satan will be
Fallen angels are chained in the bottomless pit
Jude 1:6: And the angels which kept not their proper domain, but left their own abode, he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day
Bottomless pit is inside hell
When Jesus died, He descend and got the keys of hell
Eph 4:9: (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Rev 1:18: I Am He that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death
In the 5th trumpet, Satan is given keys to the bottomless pit for a specific time and purpose to accomplish God’s plan.
Rev 9:2-3: And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
Satan will open the bottomless pit and the fallen angels (demons) will come out as locusts given power as the scorpions of the earth.
Spirits have no body and they can take any form and shape reason we see the fallen angels coming on earth having the appearance of locusts
Rev 9:4: And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads
Locusts hurt green things be it grass or trees but this locusts (demons) from the bottomless pit are commanded not to hurt any green thing but only men with no seal of God
Who are the men with seal of God? Earlier before, we saw the sealing of 144,000 with the seal of God – they are only of the tribes of the children of Israel. See the sealing of the 144,000
This demons in form of locusts are coming to all gentiles – remember the gentiles in great tribulation period denied to accept the price Jesus Christ paid on the cross for them to be raptured and escape God’s wrath in the great tribulation period
The locust are to torment humanity for 5 months not killing them
Re 9:5: And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he strikes a man
Do you know the pain you feel when a scorpion strikes you? That is the pain humanity will face for 5 months as these demonic locusts torment them. It’s where humanity will seek death and not find it
Re 9:6: And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them
In Rev 9:7-10, the shape of the locusts is explained
Locusts do not have a king (Proverbs 30:27). To prove that this locusts are not normal locusts, we see them with a king over them
Rev 9:11: And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue has his name Apollyon
Great tribulation period is God’s wrath on earth. Every gentile will die
