The 6th Angel sounds the 6th trumpet to release 4 angels to kill 1/3 of humanity. This is the 6th Angel of the 7 angels of the great tribulation period.

6th Trumpet of Revelation – Army to Kill a Third of Humanity
Rev 9:13-15: And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, ‘Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates’. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to kill a third part of mankind.
In the previous 5th trumpet, the demonic locusts are only commanded to torment humanity without killing them, but in the 6th trumpet, 1/3 of humanity is killed.
It’s a 200,000,000 army of horsemen
Rev 9:16: And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred million: and I heard the number of them
The army is defined
Rev 9:17: And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone
The question is; is this army natural or supernatural? It may or may be not.
If this describes a natural army of men, then the weird description may speak of modern, mechanized warfare. It may be John simply describing modern weaponry in the only terms he can, and the result is this weird, grotesque, terrifying account
With the 4 horses of Apocalypse, ¼ of the earth is killed (Rev 6:8). With the 6th Trumpet, a 1/3 of humanity is killed. Total = ¼ + 1/3 = 7/12
Therefore the remaining population of humanity on earth by the end of the 6th seal will be 5/12. If this will be in 2020, estimated world population is 7.6 billion – the remaining population will be 5/12 x 7.6 = 3.2 billion. And if it will be on 2030, estimated world population is 8.2 billion – the remaining population will be 5/12 x 8.2 = 3.4 billion.
But even after humanity seen God’s wrath up to the 6th trumpet, they remaining humanity repenting not
Rev 9:20-21: And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk. Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
