The Holy Trinity – Father, Son (Jesus) & Holy Spirit

The Holy Trinity – Father, Son (Jesus) & Holy Spirit

The Holy Trinity; Father, Son (Jesus) & the Holy Spirit are one – God.

Some people oppose and other accept the Holy Trinity. People have their reasons for opposing and accepting the Holy Trinity. What is the truth?

Trinity is a word not found in the bible but used to describe God in three forms. During creation God said, ‘ Let us make man in our image, after our likeness (Gen 1:26)’. ‘Let us’ meaning God was not alone.

‘Us’ – is used by a speaker to refer to himself or herself and one or more other people as the object of a verb or preposition

God created man in His likeness and looking at man, we see the likeness of God. Man is a trinity being just as God His.

The Trinity of Man – likeness of God

Though man is a one whole being, s/he is in 3 forms;

  1. The body
  2. The soul and
  3. The spirit

All the 3 forms of man; body, soul and spirit are one person – a man.

No person can deny that s/he is in three forms – a trinity. The body, soul and spirit of a man do not contradict one another in their work – they work in unison.

They can exist alone. The body can exist without the soul and the spirit; likewise, the soul can exist without the body and the spirit, and vice versa. This happens when one dies and the three are separated but existing individually.

The unity between the spirit, the body and the soul to make a man is complex. The three are co-equal and co-eternal centers of self-awareness. They are neither three persons in a cluster nor three roles played by one person but all are together form a man.

Trinity of God and man is a mystery which no man can understand and explain sufficient in his/her earthly form. Any one who has been involved in the spiritual world, like me, can testify that the three forms of man and God exist.

For God to be able to use me, He had to make me differentiate the three forms of me in me, and truly realize, whom I am. This I have spoken in this teaching; The moving hand not attached to a body touching me.

The Holy Trinity – Father, Son (Jesus) & the Holy Spirit

Since man is in likeness of God, God is also trinity;

  1. The father
  2. Son (Jesus)
  3. Holy Spirit

The father, the son and the Holy Spirit are all one God but they also exist individually. They are all divine and each individually can be referred to as a person; the way Jesus was a person individually but in three.

Neither are they three Gods in a cluster (tritheism) nor are they three roles played by one God (modelism). They do not contradict each other in everything they do but they are always together.

In first words of the bible, God revealed Himself to man; His image and likeness.

Gen 1:1: In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.

From this verse, we see that God is one, but God goes further to reveal himself in verse 2.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (Gen 1:2). Here we see the Spirit of God – the Holy Spirit

In addition, we see God talking of His Spirit. Gen 6:3: And the LORD said, my spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh. God refers to the spirit as His, therefore the Spirit of God is God.

In the Bible, we have many instances where God reveals Himself in 3 forms. This is not a mistake but God revealing Himself to us.

Jesus came to reveal the image of God to man. Jesus told us that whoever has see Him as seen the Father – because the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one.

John 14:8-9: Philip said unto him, Lord, ‘show us the Father, and it sufficient to us’. Jesus said unto Him, ‘Have I been so long time with you, and yet have you not known me, Philip? he that has seen me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father?’

We see God, the father, revealing the three forms of God severally in Jesus life and ministry.

During Jesus baptism, we see the 3 of them revealed to humanity.

Mt 3:13-17: Then came Jesus from Galilee to Jordan to John, to be baptized of him. But John forbid him, saying, I have need to be baptized by you, and you come to me? And Jesus answering said to him, let it to be so now: for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he let him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him. And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

The spirits of God descended in form of a dove and lightning upon Him, while the father talked from heaven. This was God revealing the three forms of God to humanity: the father, the spirit and the son Jesus. The father acknowledged the Son and the spirit showed His presence in Son’s life and ministry.

From the baptism of Jesus, we see how baptism must be. The three must be present as Jesus taught. Mt 28:19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus proved that there is God the father, the Son and God the spirit. He told his disciples, ‘And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter that he may abide with you for ever. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you’. (John 14:16-17, 26)

There are so many verses in the New Testament that proves rely that God is in three forms – the Holy Trinity.

The acceptance and understanding of Holy Trinity gives one the opportunity to pay attention and give equal honor to all three persona in the unity of their gracious ministry to us. That ministry is the subject matter of the gospel, which in Jesus conversation with Nicodemus (John 3:1-15) shows that it cannot be stated without bringing in their distinct roles in God’s plan of grace.

You cannot talk of salvation without talking about the order of the three and their roles in bringing it to man. Some people, groups and sects of religion, have denied the trinity of God, and I wonder where their salvation come from. You cannot deny the spirit and the Son (Jesus), and see the father. Denying the spirit of God is blasphemy, and it is denying both the son (Jesus) and the father (God).

Jesus said, …I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me’ (John 14:6).

And you cannot accept Christ without accepting the spirit; His spirit. Whoever denies that Jesus is God is an antichrist, and whoever denies that Jesus is the son of God, s/he is not a child of God. You cannot deny the son and have the parent.

1Jn 4:3, 15: And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God.

1Jn 5:1: Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loves him that begat loves him also that is begotten of him.

Praise and glory to God the father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit.

Accept the Holy Spirit for the Son and the Father to come dwell in you
