3 Main Functions of the Holy Spirit

3 Main Functions of the Holy Spirit
3 Main Functions of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has 3 main functions and He is the third persona, person or form of God. See the Holy Trinity.

These functions were taught by Jesus in His last teaching to His disciples, whom we are, before He was arrested.

The Holy Spirit was to be released after Jesus ascension.

The functions of the Holy Spirit on a person depends on one’s relationship with God; whether you are born-again or not. The Holy Spirit acts to you according to who you are to God.

There is a big difference between the way He carries His functions to the children of God and to the children of the world i.e. the born-again and the unborn-again.

3 main functions of the Holy Spirit

Jesus taught this about the Holy spirit and His 3 main functions.

John 16:9-11: And when he is come;

1. He will reprove (convince) the world of sin…

The world is the unborn-again. When you are born again, you became a child of God; an inheritor of God’s kingdom (the heavens) thus you are not of this world.

Of sin, because they believe not on me…The Holy Spirit convinces the unbeliever that, ‘you’re a sinner, you need salvation, you will be condemned’, and if they do not accept Him He moves on and goes, but he comes on and on and on to convince them to accept Jesus Christ.

This is the group of people who the Holy Spirit dwells with.

Every person not born again hears small inner voice of the Holy spirit talking telling him/her to be born again, accept Jesus Christ in his/her life. No man can deny this.

Many people do not obey or heed to this voice of the Holy Spirit and this is what is referred to as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is disobeying or not obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit thus God reason there is no forgiveness. ….the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men (Mt 12:31).

People who never obey the voice of the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven but burn in the lake of fire.

2. Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more.

For us born-again, since the Holy Spirit is dwelling in us, He guides us in walking the walk of righteousness, declaring to us that we are righteous by faith, teaching us all things and bringing to remembrance all that Jesus taught us.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).

The Holy Spirit directs us in having a relationship with Jesus Christ and shows us that Christ ascended to make us a place. He does not condemn but He gives hope, grace and points us to Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sins and salvation.

3. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

Who is the prince of this world? Satan.

The Holy Spirit condemns the devil and shows him and all who have fallen to his trap that they are judged. He is always fighting with Satan but Satan has no power over the Holy Spirit.

Reason the Antichrist cannot rise when the Holy Spirit is in the world. But immediately after the rapture of the church, the Holy Spirit will go with the church and Satan and his angels will have no restrainer in the world.

From these 3 main functions of the Holy Spirit you can get a clue of how your relationship is with the Holy Spirit.

Look at; how to if you are baptized with the Holy spirit.

God bless
