The Holy Spirit is a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
From the minute the children of Israel set their feet out of Egypt, God directed and guided them through the wilderness into the Promised Land in 3 ways;
- Giving audible direction and instructions to Prophet Moses
- A pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night
- An Angel of the Lord always went before the children of Israel
The children of Israel are a shadow of the church. The same way God led the children of Israel through the wilderness to the Promised Land is the same way God directs and guides the church from the cross through the world to the Promised Land heaven.
See how God directs and guides us from the cross through the world into the Promised Land heaven
God is leading the True Bride of Christ (the church) from the cross through the world to heaven in 3 ways;
1. Giving audible instructions and directions to Jesus Christ Prophets

A Pillar of Cloud by Day and a Pillar of Fire by Night is The Holy Spirit
There are several things we see with the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night as it led the children of Israel through wilderness.
1. The pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night did not depart from the children of Israel from the second they set out from Egypt to the Promised Land
Numbers 9:19: Yet you in your manifold mercies forsook them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way wherein they should go.
2. The children of Israel were able to go day and night through the wilderness because of the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire
Ex 13:21-22: And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night. He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
3. The pillar of cloud and pillar of fire was not only leading them but covering the children of Israel
We see this in Psalms
Psalms 105:39: He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.
The children of Israel were walking through a desert; the wilderness of Saudi Arabia is a desert. In a desert, the day is very hot and the night very cold.
God gave them a pillar of cloud by day not only to lead them but to cover them from the scorching hot sun and a pillar of fire by night not only to lead them but give them warmth and light, for the children of Israel to go by day and night comfortably.
The pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night which led the children of Israel is the Holy Spirit who is leading the church today.
The same way He led the children of Israel through the wilderness to the Promised Land, so is He leading the church from the cross through the world to the Promised Land heaven.
How?
1. During the day the Holy Spirit is a pillar of cloud and turns to a pillar of fire in the night
Spiritually, the day means there is light therefore there are no evil forces or spiritual battles but the night means there is darkness signifying presence of evil forces; time for spiritual battles.
During the day, the Holy Spirit is a pillar of cloud leading and covering us from the scorching hot sun i.e. giving us peace and joy in the world.
During the night, time for spiritual battles, the Holy Spirit turns into a pillar of fire. He protects us that the evil cannot touch us and at the same time providing us with light, warmth, peace and joy.
Rom 14:17: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost
See how the Holy Spirit performed His work when the children of Israel were crossing the Red Sea, which was a time of spiritual battle.
The Holy Spirit (the pillar of cloud) moved and went behind the children of Israel separating them from the Egyptians. For the entire night, Egyptians could not come to the children of Israel. And He gave the children of Israel light and warm during that night while the Egyptians were in darkness on the other side.
Ex 14:19-20: And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them. And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
This is exactly what the Holy Spirit does during times of spiritual battles; when the evil has come against a true Bride of Christ.
The Holy Spirit separates you with the evil that the evil cannot come to you but you see it. And He gives you peace throughout the night; throughout the battle time.
And as morning comes, as the stand-still continues, it is time when God speaks to His prophet sending him/her to come give you direction for God to reveal His power of deliverance, for the Egyptians you see not to see them again.
It is for this reason you need a God prophet in your life. See why you need a prophet in your life today.
For God to attain total deliverance in your life, you need His direction. Many people have recurring problems and difficulties because when time for battle comes for God to totally deliver you, you do not act according to His direction because you do not have a God prophet to direct you.
During the day, the Holy Spirit is a pillar of cloud giving us peace from the difficulties of the world but during the night He turns to a pillar of fire, giving us peace and protecting us from the evil coming to finish us.
As the children of Israel did not fight the Egyptians with human weapons, do not fight any battle with human weapons. Leave the battle to God; He is the man of war.
Ex 15:3: The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
2. The Holy Spirit is covering us
The pillar of cloud and pillar of fire was not only leading the children of Israel but covering them.
Psalms 105:39: He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.
The Holy Spirit is not only leading us but also covering us.
Covering us means He is giving us peace and joy both in day and night; in times of battles and in good times that we are able to go by day and night through the world in Jesus Christ as the children of Israel through the wilderness.
3. The Holy Spirit is leading us
As the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night led the children of Israel in the wilderness so is the Holy Spirit leading the True Bride of Christ through the world.
If you cannot hear and see the direction the Holy Spirit is leading you to, you are not yet in the camp of Jesus Christ.
If the children of Israel disobeyed following the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire, will they not have got lost in the wilderness? Yes!
Many people are not obeying the direction given by the Holy Spirit; they are not obeying and following the Holy Spirit directions.
If some children of Israel disobeyed and went in their own ways, will the Holy Spirit have gone with them? No!
When you disobey and go in your own ways, the Holy Spirit stands where you have left His direction and waits for you to come back for Him to continue leading you. The big problem is you may go in your own direction until you perish.
Many Christians have disobeyed the Holy Spirit direction and have got lost following their own ways reaching a dead-end but they do not want to return to the point the lost direction for the Holy Spirit to continue leading them again. Return Repent.
Remember that your will is not God’s will and what you are thinking in your mind is not right in the eyes of God.
Isaiah 55:8: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD
Psalms 94:11: The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity
1 Cor 3:20: And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain
Listen keenly to the voice of the Holy Spirit and follow every direction He gives you without questions.
You are not to understand; follow without questions
Proverb 20:24: Man’s steps are directed by the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
After the Cross (left Egypt), the church needed the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night to lead her to the Promised Land heaven. It is for this reason Jesus said,
John 14:18: I will not leave you orphans
The Holy Spirit came to lead the church through the world to heaven as He led the children of Israel through the wilderness to the Promised Land.
When a true God prophet comes to you with God message, s/he does not contract what the Holy Spirit is telling you but confirms it. At no point do we see the direction issued by Prophet Moses contradicting with the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire.
When Prophet Moses issued direction to the children of Israel all the times, the pillar of cloud and fire would depart and lead giving them peace all through even if they are heading to Red Sea where there is no way.
When a true God Prophet is send to you, He will confirm the voice of the holy Spirit speaking to you and lead you to the direction God is leading you to. The pillar of cloud and fire will lead the way giving you peace in you even if you see a dead end ahead.
It is at that dead head where things seem impossible where you will see a miracle. God does not do miracles in the ordinary but only in the extra ordinary.
The Holy Spirit always leads us to the impossible and extra ordinary for us to see God miracles.
Follow obediently without questions.
To the True Bride of Christ, the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night is leading you day and night. Fear nothing in the world and continue walking in God’s direction.
To hypocrites and heathens, the Holy Spirit is neither covering nor leading you. Accept the Son Jesus Christ first then follow without questions the directions the Holy Spirit is giving you.
