Honor your father and your mother Part-4

Honor your father and your mother
Honor your father and your mother

NB: This is a continuation from the article; honor your father and your mother Part-3

From the articles; honor your father and mother part-1, Part-2 and Part-3, you have learned that this commandment does not talk of our earthly biological parents in any way. God gave us (Christians) this commandment; honor your father and your mother commanding us to honor Him.

Honor your father and your mother to Christians

When we honor God, the promise of this command are guaranteed to us. This are; –

  1. Salvation from bondage or slavery
  2. Journey through the wilderness (world) led by God
  3. Inheriting the Promised land
  4. Living long in heaven
  • Salvation

Like the children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt, we all were in bondage before being born-again. But since we are children of Abraham like the children of Israel, God delivered us from bondage in Egypt as He promised. I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments (Ex 6:6).

This was a prophecy fulfilled to the dot on the cross. We (Christians) were brought out of Egypt (saved) by Jesus who carried or took away all our sins thus God got rid of Egyptians bondage in us. On the cross with stretched hands, He redeemed us and the devilish kingdom was greatly judged.

  • Journey in the world led by God

After saving us (Christians), like the children of Israel, God takes us through wilderness as He directs and leads us day by cloud and night by fire, to the land which He will give us. The wilderness is the world, Satan’s kingdom; He is the prince of this world. John 12:31: Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

  • Inheriting promised land

So the land which God gives us according to His promise and this command (that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you) is not the world. Man is supposed to pass through the wilderness (world) in few days, the way the children of Israel were supposed to pass through the wilderness, to the Promise Land.

Reason God numbered the days of man in the wilderness (world). Gen 6:3: And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

  • Living long in heaven

We are not supposed to live long in the world but we are supposed to live long in the Promise Land. Living long in the world does not depend on obeying our biological parents or not but when our time comes; God takes us out of the wilderness to the promise land. But also realize that the devil has power to take away his own (take their life).

Why we are on earth

God keeps us in the world for each of us to accomplish his/her set ministry and it is until we are through that God takes us from the world to the Promise Land. You wonder why some people who obey the law and keep God commandments do not live long on earth while those who do not even care about the commandments and God, live long?

Because when ones set ministry is accomplished, God takes him/her to give him/her rest and this does not depend on obeying our earthly biological parents or not.

When Jesus was on the cross,  He cried loud, ‘It is finished’. He made that He is through with His ministry and immediately He was taken from the world. It is until God sees and says ‘It is finished’; you have fought well and accomplished your ministry like Paul, that God takes you out of the world.

2 Tim 4:6-7: For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
