Anti-Christ means an antagonist/ opponent of Jesus Christ. A person and power oppose/ against or in place of Jesus Christ.

Many Christians have tried to name the Antichrist from among the men of their day. Some have made good assumptions, while others were very much off base in their observations. Of course, no one has been able to name the true Antichrist. But the truth is, the antichrist is yet to arise. What we have in the scene is the spirit of antichrist.

There is that one person who will rise in the three and half years of tribulation. His mortal wound will be healed miraculously and the whole earth will marvel and worship him. Rev: 13:3: And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

He will have all demonic powers and deceive many. (Rev: 13:14) And deceived them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. He is the person who will stand in Jerusalem and declare, ‘I am the Christ’.

But, before this guy, we have other many antichrist with the spirit of the antichrist. There is the antichrist and the spirit of antichrist as portrayed by Apostle John. 1Jn 4:3 …And this is the spirit of antichrist.

The spirit of the antichrist perverts, twists or adds to the essential building blocks of Christianity. How?

Characteristics of the spirit of antichrist

Add, deny, pervert, twist that;

1. Jesus is God.
2. Jesus is Christ
3. Jesus was  a man when He was on earth (He had flesh)
4. Jesus rose from the dead physically
5. Salvation is only by grace through faith
6. The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus

Satan is the main antichrist with his primary role been to destroy Jesus Christ and the roots of Christianity. Anyone or identity which perverts, twists or adds to any of the above maintained building blocks is an antichrist. Twisting and perverting these core foundations leads directly to damnation. Lets us look at each building block, one by one (next article).
