The road to hell

The road to hell
The road to hell

There are three things in the world leading to damnation; road to hell. These are (1 john 2:16):

  1. The lust of the flesh
  2. The lust of eyes and
  3. The pride of life

1 John 2:16: For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

The Road to Hell

1. Pride of life

Pride is an elation or satisfaction of one’s achievements, qualities, money, possessions etc.

When one is proud, s/he takes him/herself to be perfect in need of no help or even a relationship. Example; people who are very proud of themselves are very hard to get into marriage or any relationship with another person. They feel they are totally perfect and complete. The same way, those proud of themselves and their life are to God. They feel they are so perfect and complete that they need not a relationship with Him.  They feel that they can do all things without Him?

Let us not be proud of our life, who we are, what we have (possessions), showing and boasting. Keep yourself away from pride of life because this is the source of rebellion to the Holy Spirit (blasphemy). As revealed in my testimony, I was so proud of myself that I did not see any  need of Jesus in my life but He has continuously humbled me until I see that I am nothing without Him.

Many of us are so proud of ourselves that we do not see any need of Jesus in our life. We have money, education certificates, living a good life, everything flowing smoothly and we carry ourselves with great honor and class. We love showing off and boasting of what we have without knowing that this is a devils snare to us. Those who have not achieved things of the world like us, we look down upon them and we feel that we have power and life.

We ask ourselves, why then need Jesus Christ in life? Do not let Jesus come humble you and kill your pride because it will not be an easy and soft ride. He is giving you time to sort yourself up and if you cannot, definitely He will do it.

Jesus is the porter and we are the clay and He will shape me and you until we fit into the shape He wants (Jeremiah 18). We accept Him working on us or we run away; He will not stop molding us. Many are going through hardships in life; diseases are eating them up, lack of food and money and so many difficulties, not because God is away from you but He is molding you, killing your pride for you to see Him. I testify to you that if God did not take me through the hardships I had before in my life, I could not have know Him the way I do today and I could not have had a relationship with Him.

2. Lust of eyes

Lust of our eyes is the source of all evil and sin. What comes in the eye goes to the mind, then dirties and pollutes the soul. Our eyes always want to see the evil; we must fight and keep them away from evil. Many sins we commit comes first from the lust of the eye and if it is not for the eye, many of us will be with no sins.

The eye is the source of light to the whole body. If you allow your eye to see evil, you’re whole body will be full of darkness but if you allow your eye to be only single, seeing only light, your body will be full of light. Mt 6:22-23: The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness.

You better pluck out that eye seeing evil. Mt 5:29: And if you right eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that you whole body should be cast into hell.

3. Lust of flesh

Flesh is the body, the material part (More in the moving hand unattached to a body touching me). The body is controlled by soul, then the soul is controlled by the spirit. What the body or flesh lusts for depends on the spirit we are obeying. There are only two spirits; the Holy Spirit and the evil Spirit. See the significance of Noah’s ark window.

If you allow the Holy Spirit to take control of your body, He will keep you away from the lust of flesh but if you allow the evil spirit to control your body and soul, he will make you get into all acts of flesh.

Gal 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envying, murders, drunkenness, revelling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Let’s keep ourselves from these three things which are in the world. Whoever loves the world and does as the world does, the love of God is not in Him. 1 John 2:15: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. These three are the main source of man’s sins; the main source of disobeying God, the road to hell.
