You shall not kill Part-1

You shall not kill
You shall not kill

You shall not kill forbids any form of killing. Killing is taking away of life.

this commandment does not talk of killing animals. Man has authority to kill or take away the life of animals because s/he was given dominion over all.

Gen 1:29-30: And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creeps upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

Killing is in two perspectives: –

  1. Killing another man or oneself (suicide)
  2. Inward bad attitude
  • Killing another man and suicide

God is the giver of life and no man has the authority to take it away. Man cannot give life and cannot create Himself only God can. Gen 2:7: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. So why take away what you cannot give? Man only helps by producing seed and ova then giving birth but it is God who gives life and creates.

Satan has an agenda to the world which He is accomplishing. Taking away of man’s life is not a big deal in today’s world because Satan through the media, (television, radios, internet, etc) has taken this command in vain that it does not carry a big meaning to man. Satan has gone even too far that everyday news you hear is about men killing each other or oneself.

It has become normal, a lifestyle, to kill or take away life. The devil agenda is been popularized through the media because the devil knows that what you hear and see is what you became. He created the media and uses it to push his agendas to an ignorant world. Lets stop ignorance, what we see and hear in the media is filtered and controlled by Satan and his agents.

  • Killing is an inward attitude

Killing does not only mean taking a knife punching someone’s heart, gun shooting someone, committing suicide and so on and so on, but it means more. It is not only the outward activity but also the inward attitude. This is what Jesus was teaching when He explained this commandment.

Mt 5:21: You have heard that it was said by them of old time, you shall not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, you fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Anger that Jesus was referring to is anger that smolders; burns slowly without flame or burns internally. It is not that outward hostility but that inward hostility that goes on and on.

Because the command says, ‘whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause’, people excuse themselves saying they have or had a cause of being angry. Jesus clearly taught and explained this (continued in you shall not kill Part-2).

All glory to God, Amen.
