The 2 Types of Fasting – Flesh vs Spirit

The 2 Types of Fasting - Flesh vs Spirit
The 2 Types of Fasting – Flesh vs Spirit

There are 2 types of fasting;

  1. Flesh fasting or led by the flesh
  2. Spirit fasting or led by the Spirit (the Holy Spirit)

What’s the difference?

2 Types of Fasting – Flesh vs Spirit

1. Spirit Fasting

Spirit fasting is fasting led by the Holy Spirit – it’s when the Holy Spirit tells you to fast and how to.

This fasting is only for the people led by the Spirit of God – the sons of God

Romans 8:14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God

See walk in the Spirit

When we are led by the Spirit of the Lord, we do not tell ourselves to fast, what to do, we do not lead ourselves but it is the Spirit who leads us.

The Holy Spirit can tell us to fast without knowing why we are fasting. In the same manner He can tell you to pray without knowing what to pray for but He guides you.

It is only when your fast is led by the Holy Spirit, when it is in God’s Will and you are doing God’s Will.

It is only in this fasting you see the fruits of your fasting.

2. Flesh Fasting

Flesh fasting is when the flesh tells you to fast; flesh includes mind, imagination, thoughts, etc

When another human being tells you to fast and God hasn’t confirmed personally to you, that is flesh fasting too

In this fasting, you use flesh to try to please, bribe, arm-twist, prove yourself to God, etc.

Everything of the flesh is death – it is a disaster to use the flesh to please God.

Others fast to show themselves to humans, how they are Godly, how much they seek God, saved, etc – just lying to themselves

Whatsoever you will pray and ask in this fasting is all of flesh and not in God’s Will.

The difference between Bride of Christ and all religions of the world is that Bride of Christ are led by the Holy Spirit thus only fast as led by the Spirit while all fasts of religion including Christianity as a religion are all of flesh.

Spirit is Life – everything that is not of the Spirit is death

In the same manner if you lead yourself to giving, doing charitable deeds, etc, but not led by the Holy Spirit, you will use your money and material things fattening demons, supporting Satan and his work.

If you preach the gospel, and it’s not God who has send and leads you, you preach dark doctrines and perish

Fasting Truths

  1. Fasting purpose is to draw oneself closer to Jesus Christ
  2. Receiving from God has nothing to do with fasting but your Faith in Jesus Christ. See it’s faith that moves a mountains not fasting
  3. Fasting is not a prerequisite to salvation
  4. Fasting is not Faith. Fasting neither builds nor grows faith the key to salvation. Salvation is by Grace through Faith
  5. Fasting in God is done is secret for our God is in secret (Mt 6) – let no humans know you are fasting (Mt 6:16-18)
  6. The disciples of Jesus never fasted when with Him and never depended on fasting to have a perfect relationship with Him
  7. To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, you cannot depend on fasting but only on Jesus Christ Grace and His mercy, and your Faith in Him
  8. You cannot please God by fasting. God is only pleased by His Only Begotten Son Jesus thus you only please Him when the Son is dwelling in you thus you do everything as led by His Spirit

Fasting has become a religion. Religion is depended on the Flesh not the Spirit – its strength is the flesh, what you can do not what the Spirit can do through you.

Today most people think it’s only by fasting they will receive thus they fast for everything – this is religion. This people perish because they never build/grow their faith. Faith never comes by fasting.

I am send not to lead you to fasting but to build/grow your Faith in Jesus Christ because everything of His Kingdom is depended on your faith in Him.

Many come telling me how they are/have fasted asking God, the first thing I tell them is to stop fasting, pray without fasting and see a God who answers without fasting – by this Light shines to them.

When a person comes telling me ‘I want to fast or am fasting’, the first question I ask is, ‘who has told you to fast, yourself or the Holy Spirit (Jesus Christ)?’ When about to fast, always ask yourself this question.

When a person comes and tells you to fast, wait for the Spirit of God to confirm or deny his/her words to you personally before doing what the person says. Problem with today so-called Christians is that they never wait upon the Lord or depend on Him and His Spirit.

God does not answer many because they use fasting for the wrong reasons.

If God tells you to fast, fast, otherwise, eat and drink, God wants a healthy body – a healthy temple. See the body is the temple of the Lord

Moses fasted 40 days and 40 nights because He was physically in the presence of the Lord. In the presence of the Lord, there is no hunger no thirst

If you die fasting, that is suicide; you have destroyed the temple of the Lord – no difference between you and Judas Iscariot.
