As you have learned, idols are gods and many men even those calling themselves Christians are worshiping idols. Some without their knowledge while others due to ignorance. Unknowingly because God (I AM) does not mix Himself with other gods but when man starts worshiping an idol, He shuts the eyes of that man so that s/he cannot see and her/his mind that s/he cannot understand. Isa 44:18: They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
From the characteristics of an idol and the definition of the word ‘God’, you can know the idol in your life. Idols or gods are many, and man through the help and power of Satan can transform anything even if it is good to an idol. When the evil spirit enters and takes over a man, that person is presented with an image or anything from this world, which s/he takes to be his/her god. Satan has power to deceive and he tells man that that is what will save him/her and man starts worshiping that thing.
Idols or gods are so many and different in today’s world. Different men worship different idols. Some of the idols i have named are money, fame, power, pleasure, sex, drugs, electronics, games e.t.c. These things are there for mans good but through the power of Lucifer, they are transformed into gods and man worship them.
Money is good, sex is good, power is good, games are good, electronics are good but when they are turned to a god, they became bad and destroy man. How then do you know the god in your life?
You have heard someone say, ‘I cannot live without money’, ‘I cannot live without a mobile phone’, ‘I cannot live without games’, ‘I cannot live without this or that’, and so on and so on. That person has just taken that thing and transformed it to be her/his god and by saying that s/he cannot live without, s/he is worshiping that thing.
Satan deceives man that her/his life is useless without that thing (idol) and he (Satan) gives man addiction to that idol. The problem is that nothing of this world is permanent, so when that idol man is worshiping vanishes, or s/he finds it cannot save her/him, man is deceived to commit suicide. Just look in your life the thing you say you cannot live without and realize that that is the god you serve. The only thing man cannot live without is God, all others can vanish and man will not still live.
My parents always stated to me that ‘education is my life’ but i knew and know with or without it, i will live not die. It is not my parents alone but many parents have told their kids this. You will hear someone say, ‘He is my life’, ‘she is my life’, ‘That job is my life’, ‘that car is my life’, ‘that and that is my life’, and so on and so on. So what happens when that thing you say is your life is taken away, do you die? And is the gift of life given to you by god worthy that thing? Get freedom: stopping serving that idol.
That thing (idol) you call your life or you cannot live without does not give you joy, happiness or satisfaction. You’re always carrying it, moving it from one place to another, burdening you. Discard it (that idol) and get freedom.
When you are in trouble and you call or cry to your idol, it will neither answer nor save you. Many men open their eyes, awake from their years of serving idols at this point of life. You’re in hospital diagnosed with cancer, HIV/AIDS etc, you have all the money, big cars, buildings, educated to the highest degree, your being treated by the best doctors the world can provide but you are dying. You call all these idols you have been busy serving but they all stare at you; they cannot save you.
People, see that all these idols you’re busy carrying, serving and searching in your entire life will never help you but kill you. Jesus Christ is the only true living God and with Him you will never be disappointed. You call Him, He answers and when you’re in trouble He comes to save you.
Choose from today to serve and worship Jesus Christ your entire life, stop wasting your life busy serving idols.
