Repentance: – How to Repent

Repentance:- How to Repent
Repentance:- How to Repent

Repentance is a deep recognition of the wickedness of our heart and life. A truly repentant person hates and abhors all sin, especially his own.

It is turning away from or forsaking all sin with a corresponding desire to turn wholly heartily to God and to love and serve Him forever.

How To Repent

Unless a person is convinced that they personally are guilty before God and the dreadful seriousness of their sin, they will not see any need to repent.

Clearly, it is until you are convinced you have sinned that you will repent. And do you need convincing to repent?

No! The bible says it straight that every man is a sinner, so we need to constantly keep repenting.

The time you feel guilty in your heart, the time you accept your sins and that you are a sinner, and that you truly need forgiveness, God forgives you right at that instant. You do not need to go kneel before another human being by the name of a church clergy or whoever.

This is what King David learned from God as he puts it in Psalms 32:5. I acknowledged my sin unto you, and mine iniquity have I not hid.  I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

The three important processes of repentance

For us to be forgiven by God there are three important processes we have to follow as revealed in the above verse. We have to;

  1. Acknowledge our sins
  2. Hide not our sins to God, then
  3. Confess our sins to God

All the above processes must take place deep down in our hearts, nowhere else, and it does not even take a second for the three processes to be completed.

The instance we repent, God forgives us at that instantly. God neither takes days, weeks or years to forgive nor does He remember our sins like man. He forgives and forgets.

After repenting, do not go back to God to repent the same sin. God does not know any search kind of sin you have committed because He forgave you and forgotten; He does not remember your sins.

Do not name sins when repenting

Today’s ‘perverted gospel’ teaches to name and claim it. This is not biblical.

When we are repenting and confessing our sins to God, we must not name them.

God is a spirit and the spirit lives and sees through our hearts. He knows all our sins even those we do not know or remember. We commit so many sins in the eyes of God but in our eyes, the sins we commit are countable.

We must repent and confess our sins the way Jesus Christ taught us in the prayer. Mt: 6:12: And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. No naming nor claiming.

When you name your sins, will you be forgiven all your sins since there are many you will not remember?

Keep repenting constantly without ceasing

Constant repentance makes our father happy and pleased with us and He is always ready, fighting and helping us in our walk that devil does not devour us.

We commit so many sins each passing second even other sins we do not know, reason we must constantly keep repenting.

If we fail to repent constantly, the devil takes authority and drives us far away from God. He makes sure that we do not have a close relationship with God by making us sin more and more.

Sin then overpowers and enslaves us. Then he goes ahead to tell us that God does not need a sinner: which is a lie.

If we sin, Jesus Christ is the advocate (the attorney, our lawyer) who paid the price for our sins. 1 John 2:1…That you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

He paid the ransom for our past, present and future sins that we live always righteous by grace through having great faith in Him.

This does not mean we keep sinning. The more you sin, the more Satan drives you away from Christ and the deeper he drives you to sin and the more captive to sin you became.

If you continue sinning (living in darkness) there is no light (truth) in you. 1 John 1:6: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not live according to the truth.

To have fellowship with him, we have first to repent our sins and stop walking and living in sin.

Watch the season we are living in. Look at what is happening to Israel, it is time to repent. Time is at hand and Jesus is standing in the clouds soon.

Mt 3:2: And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Let us all repent that we may not perish but be found worthy to inherit the kingdom of heaven.

Lk 13:3: I tell you, Nay: but, except you repent, you shall all likewise perish.
