Which day is the Sabbath day? Is Sabbath spiritually a day?

From the article; worshiping the Sabbath day, we have learned how to answer controversial questions.

I am sure you have heard this question or someone has asked you, which day is the Sabbath day? All sorts of explanation, perversions and twists  have been brought out but where is the truth?

Which Day is the Sabbath day?

Some people say that Sabbath day is Sunday, others Sabbath is Monday, others Sabbath is Saturday and on and on. A person once told me that Sunday comes from the word ‘sun’ and ‘day’ and people who worship on Sunday worship the sun; the mark of the beast.

Understanding which day is the Sabbath day has brought breakage in the religious sector. Some religious groups and denominations worship on Saturday, like the Seventh day Adventist, because to them Saturday is the Sabbath day. Others say Sabbath day is Sunday so they worship on Sunday. Who is right and where is wrong?

The Bible on the Sabbath day

When God was creating the heavens, the earth and all in them, He was alone (man was nowhere to be found). So no man knows which day God started creating hence no man knows the seventh day and no man can prove which day is the seventh day.

The bible only says the ‘seventh day’. From creation (Genesis), God did not give a sign to mark the seventh day.

Gen 2:2-3: And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Since the creation of the world, the calendar has changed so many times that we cannot know the first true calendar. The calendar we are using today is totally different from all other calendars, therefore no one can prove which day is the Sabbath day.

Early Church changed the day of worship

In the Book of Acts we see change in the day of worship taking place in the early church. The early church used to meet and worship on Saturday until after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ when they changed to meet and worship on the day of the Lord.

The day of the Lord is the day when Jesus resurrected; the third day, the first day of the week, Sunday.

Know that the calendar which was being used when Jesus was on earth is the same calendar we use up to present time.

Some people judge others on the day of worship. Some say because other people worship on a particular day which is not the Sabbath day according to them, they do not keep the Sabbath day holy. In Colossians 2, Paul dealt with this issue.

Col 2:16: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day  or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days.

Therefore let no one judge you on which day is the Sabbath day because it is ‘a shadow of things to come’ Col 2:17.

The fact is that no one knows the seventh day; the Sabbath day. The seventh day may be Saturday, Sunday, Monday or any other day of the week. therefore the day you call the Sabbath day may be or may be not, and you cannot prove it.

But is Sabbath a day? No!

Sabbath is Jesus Christ

Col 2:16-17: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the substance is of Christ.

Worship God every day

A question: Is it the day that matters or is who you are worshiping that matters?

To worshiping the true living God, ‘I AM’, you do not need a day? God must be worshiped anyplace anytime anywhere all times.

We do not need a day or place to worship God since He lives in us (we are His temple).

Satan is behind this discussion and controversy, and due to lack of Holy Spirit, many men have fallen to his snare. He has taken Sabbath to be a specific day, for men to worship a day.

He has installed a lie in minds of men that if you do not worship on a specific day, you are not obeying God, leading men to worship a day but not worship the true God.

God is not a God of a day, time or place. He is not limited by time or space and since He dwells in our bodies, we do not need a day to serve Him.

Therefore, anytime, every time is time to worship God and in doing this, you are obeying the command.

Take any day it may be, make it your day of rest but worship God anytime, every time all time.

Remembering the Sabbath and keeping it Holy is not about a day but about a person; Jesus Christ. See Jesus is Sabbath.
