The purpose of Jesus death

The law nailed on the cross
The law nailed on the cross

The major purpose of Jesus coming to the world as a man was to destroy the law thus man’s sin. Realize that without the law there is no sin and the law is the knowledge of sin. Rom 3:20, 7 for by the law is the knowledge of sin … if it had not been for the law, I should not have known sin. So destroying the law is destroying sin.

God set and established the laws, but since the laws cannot save a man, He had to destroy them to bring salvation to humanity. Salvation is been saved from the law since without the law there is no sin (being saved from sin is being saved from the law). Since the laws where in the world with man, God had to come down to the world and be with man. Reason He sent His begotten son to the world. John 3:16: for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son

Jesus was born during the times of the law, so in His life time before his death, He had to live by the law; obeying and fulfilling each and every part of the law. Reason He said that think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill Mt 5:17. He lived purely and never broke any law; He had no sin Pet 2:22: Who did no sin.

Many people do not understand this; they live by the law saying that they are imitating Jesus without realizing that Jesus was born at a different dispensation than them and He authored another different dispensation. Jesus was born in the dispensation of the law while we are born in the dispensation of grace.

In His ministry on earth, Jesus fulfilled each law and what is written in the law. Reason like a lamb with no sin, accused of blasphemy He had to fulfill the law by been hanged on the tree (Blasphemy in Mosaic Law requires hanging on a tree). Deut 21:23 for he that is hanged is accursed of God.Gal 3:13: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree.

And this was his last part of fulfilling the law by giving himself out to be cursed, die on the cross and at the same time destroy the law by been victorious over death which is the wage of sin (law).

Jesus died by and through the laws to bring salvation (save from the law). By nailing Jesus on the cross was nailing the law . Col:2:14: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross and he proclaimed that it is finished (He is through with saving man and destroying the laws). He killed, destroyed and abolished the law (the old covenant) in bringing the new covenant.

He is the author of the new covenant. For the new to be established and take effect, the old has to die. Heb: 10:9: …He abolished the first, that he may establish the second. Why a man cannot mix the old and the new and for a man to be saved s/he has to kill the old her/himself (be born again). Heb: 8:13: In speaking of a new covenant, he treats the first as obsolete…. You must treat the old as obsolete for you to be saved.

For a will to take effect, the one who made it must die first, thus Jesus had to die in order for His will to be in effect. Jesus will was and is to bring grace and salvation to humanity. Heb 9:16-17: For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established.. For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. So Jesus had to die.

In his death He abolished (made obsolete) the law to bring forth Grace. So we, who believe in Christ Jesus, we are not under the law. We are righteous by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by the law.

All glory to Jesus Christ, Amen.
